HOLY GHOST AND FIRE

BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

Before He ascended into heaven, Jesus instructed His Apostles to wait in Jerusalem for the the Holy Spirit to come upon them:

“And being assembled together with them (His Apostles), He commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which He said, you have heard of Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence…You shall receive power after the Holy Ghost is come upon you and you shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem and in all Judaea, in Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth” Acts 1:4-5, 8.

The Apostles were already Christians, of course, when they went to the upper room in Jerusalem and waited for the Holy Ghost to come upon them, as Jesus instructed them to do:

“And when the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they (the Apostles and others) were all with one accord in one place and suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the house where they were sitting and there appeared unto them cloven tongues like fire and it sat upon each of them and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance…And they were all (others standing by) amazed and were in doubt, saying one to another, What does this mean? Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine. But Peter, standing up with the eleven (other Apostles), lifted up his voice and said to them, You men of Judaea and all you who dwell at Jerusalem, be this known to you and hearken to my words, for these are not drunk as you suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day, but this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel: And it should come to pass in the last days, says God, I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and daughters shall prophesy and your young men shall see visions and your old men shall dream dreams; and on My servants and on My handmaidens I will pour out in those days of My Spirit and they shall prophesy Acts 2:1-4, 12-18.

 The Word of God continues:

“Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart and said to Peter and the rest of the Apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, for the promise is unto you and to your children and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call” Acts 2:37-39.

Some time later, the Apostle Paul traveled to Ephesus and while there, he came across disciples and asked them if they had received the Holy Ghost since they believed. They said they hadn’t even heard of the Holy Ghost. They had only been baptized by John, believing in “Him who would come, Jesus.” They were then baptized in the name of Jesus, and when Paul laid his hands on them, they received the Holy Ghost and they spoke in tongues and prophesied (Acts 19).

There are many other passages of scripture that support the gift of the Holy Ghost, which a person can receive of God after they have repented, with the evidence of speaking in other tongues, which evidence may be a specific language known on earth, or could be an entirely different language that no one knows, except God and those who prophesy and interpret tongues (1 Corinthians 12:7-11; 1 Corinthians 14).

Jesus told His apostles to wait for the Holy Spirit in Jerusalem, so they would receive power from God. The scriptures tell us what the people of God can do for God’s service, if they are filled with the Holy Ghost:

“And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel (for the coming Messiah-Savior), and the Holy Ghost was upon him and it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost that he should not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ (Messiah-Savior). And he came by the Spirit into the temple and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for Him after the custom of the law, then he took Him in his arms and blessed God and said, Lord, now let Your servant depart in peace, according to Your Word, for My eyes have seen Your salvation” Luke 2:25-30.

Do you want to be used of God? You need the gift of the Holy Ghost for power and God’s service, especially in these last days. The days are becoming so evil that “except those days be shortened, no flesh would be saved” (Matthew 24:22-24). If you plan to be ready to be “caught up” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18) when that hour comes, you need to be filled with the Holy Ghost. Jesus is calling His people to “wait for the promise of the Father” (Acts 1:4) today, just as He told His Apostles to wait for the promise, because it was not only for the Apostles, “For the promise is unto you and to your children and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call” Acts 1:39.

Salvation is offered to everyone who repents of sin and receives Jesus as their Lord and Savior, unless a person crosses a line with God, to the point of becoming reprobate, having no conscience (Romans 1:21-32; Hebrews 6:4-6). Now is the time of salvation for everyone; tomorrow, or even the next hour, could be too late, because we have no guarantee of tomorrow.

Hundreds of Bible prophecies have been fulfilled and those remaining shall surely come to pass. Are you prepared to stand before God and give an account of the life you have lived on this earth (Revelation 20:12-15)? If not, salvation is only a prayer away. “The Spirit and the bride say, Come; and let him who hears say, Come; and let him that is athirst come, and whosoever will, let him take of the water of life freely” Revelation 22:17

Merry Christmas – Happy Hanukkah

Be Filled with the Ruach HaKodosh (רוח הקדוש) – Holy Spirit

Old time Pentecostals had to be some of the most straight-laced people you’ve ever seen in your life. I mean they used to put on their Sunday best, many still do, pressing every wrinkle out of those cotton shirts, every hair on their head in place and shoes shined so bright you could use them as a mirror – with a rod straight up their backs!

Nevertheless, let the Holy Spirit fall in a service and watch those folks come unglued!

This old video demonstrates the real power of the Holy Spirit, the presence of God Almighty, falling on believers. The power of the Holy Spirit is exactly the same today, just as it was on the Day of Pentecost, but not many folks today allow the Spirit to have His way in the house of God.

The last clip on the video includes a Kenneth Hagin service. If you have never heard him speak, he is phenomenal. He was miraculously healed as a boy, after doctors (one who had practiced at the Mayo Clinic) said he would not live, could not live. None of his doctors gave him any hope; but as he lay dying in his bed, his grandmother propped a Bible up in front of him so he could read it. When he came across the scriptures that tell us we will have what we ask, if we believe with our heart, he decided he didn’t have to die and he held on to that faith so strongly, he eventually got up by the healing power of God, after doctors sent him home to die!

During that time, he also had three near death experiences.

*It is advisable that you read Kenneth Hagin’s own testimony about his miraculous healing before you watch the video below, so you will have an understanding as to why he has been anointed with the power of God to be a witness (Acts 1:8). His testimony is included on the Kenneth Hagin’s Healing Testimony page: (https://nowprophecy.wordpress.com/kenneth-hagins-healing-testimony/)

Now, I have to caution you; have a great time laughing with those who are hit by the power of the Holy Spirit, but whatever you do, don’t make fun of it; don’t mock it, is what I am saying. This power of God is very real and the people who are hit by it in these services can no more help themselves than one who sticks their hand on a high voltage current.

There is only one unforgivable sin mentioned in the Word of God, and that’s blasphemy of the Holy Spirit (Mark 3:22-30). Again, laugh with them, but don’t mock God’s Spirit, the “Holy Ghost.”

“And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance…And they were all amazed and were in doubt, saying one to another, What does this mean? Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine. But Peter, standing up with the eleven (Apostles) lifted up his voice and said unto them, You men of Judaea, and all that dwell in Jerusalem, be this known to you and hearken to my words, for these are not drunk, as you suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day; but this is that which was spoken by the Prophet Joel (Joel 2:28): And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams” Acts 2:4, 12-17

“For the promise is for you and your children and for all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord shall call” Acts 2:39

In Hebrew, the Holy Spirit is called Ruach HaKodosh (רוח הקדוש), and it also means breath of life, the soul of man, which came from the breath of God. If you have received salvation through Jesus Christ, accepting Him as your Savior, God wants to give you the gift of His Holy Spirit, as described in Acts 2 (above).

If you are a Christian and you haven’t received the gift of the Holy Ghost, pray before you watch this video and after you get accustomed to what’s happening here, if you desire the presence and power of God in your life, place your hands on the monitor, in faith believing, when the Holy Ghost falls on the people in this video, and receive it for yourself by faith!

Requirement: live as godly as you possibly can; do not allow continuous sin in your life; repent, if you do sin, and make a commitment to God to do your very best to live a holy life, with His help.

“And he said unto them, Have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost…And when Paul laid hands on them, the Holy Ghost came on them and they spoke with tongues and prophesied” Acts 19:2, 6

* The man who hopped up on the pulpit was not a young, slender man. He was husky and not agile in appearance, but he stepped up on that pulpit like it was just a stool. That was only accomplished by the power of God, the “Holy Ghost and fire” (Luke 3:16). Maybe he needed a little “loosening-up.” God has a sense of humor, doesn’t He?

Salvation is offered to everyone who repents of sin and receives Jesus as their Lord and Savior; unless a person crosses a line with God, to the point of becoming reprobate (Romans 1:21-32; Hebrews 6:4-6). Now is the time of salvation for everyone; tomorrow, or even the next hour, could be too late.

Are You Hungry for God?

In 1906, a small group of people were hungry for God in Los Angeles, California, and they began to pray daily. A year earlier, Charles Parham opened a Bible school in Houston, Texas. He had a black student, who was segregated from the rest of the church, and he would sit out on the steps and listen through the doorway to the Bible teachings. That humble black man’s name was William J Seymour. Seymour believed every word and took the teachings on Acts 2 to heart. Parham remarked about Seymour, “He is the most humble man I have ever met.”

While a small group of believers prayed in a little house at 214 Bonnie Brae Street, Los Angeles, California, William J Seymour was learning ever more about the move of the Holy Ghost from the Word of God in Houston, Texas.

A woman from one of the prayer groups in California met Seymour in Houston one day and she was impressed with his Godliness. She recommended Seymour to a pastor in Los Angeles and Seymour was invited to pastor a church in LA. Seymour accepted the invitation.

Seymour preached about the gift of the Holy Ghost, with the evidence of speaking in other tongues, as described in Acts 2. The congregation was not accustomed to this teaching and Seymour was promptly locked out of the church.

Hospitality was given to Seymour by another Christian and Seymour began praying many hours each day for the direction of God. Other Christians started coming to the home where Seymour stayed to pray with him and the prayer meetings lasted most of the day. He moved to the home of a Christian couple at 214 North Bonnie Brae Street, Los Angeles, CA, and he began preaching to small groups of people every night.

On April 9, 1906, seven people at the meeting were filled with the Holy Ghost and fire, with the evidence of speaking in tongues, as the Holy Ghost gave them utterance (Acts 2:4). Neighbors heard the commotion coming from the Bonnie Brae house and began to come to the nightly meetings and many others were filled with the Holy Ghost. Soon, word circulated about the revival at the small house on Bonnie Brae and crowds so huge gathered at the home, that the people decided to rent a larger building.

The meetings were moved to a large shamble of a building at 312 Azusa Street, Los Angeles, CA, which had recently been used as a stable. People came from all around to attend the profound revival on Azusa Street. Many were filled with the Holy Ghost there and miracles and healings took place during the revival, which continued every day for three years. The revival was held each and every day for three years straight, nonstop. It was not uncommon for the meetings to last from about 10 am to midnight. Something very profound was happening at the Azusa Street revival.

Offerings were never taken, but could be left at the door while exiting. Seymour never begged, pleaded, or intimidated people for money, but all of the bills were always paid! This is how God’s church operates; not like the flea market sales you are seeing on television, not like the usher who holds the offering plate under your nose waiting for money. God inspires Holy Ghost filled people to give their tithes and offerings, so “there may be meat in God’s house” Malachi 3:10.

If preachers preached the truth, as it is written in the Holy Word of God, they wouldn’t have to worry about how much people are going to give. The people would be inspired of God to give. Preaches have evolved to begging for money, because they don’t preach the WORD which inspires the people!

As the power of God moved, people would fall prostrate on the floor. They often got up speaking in other tongues. Many healings were documented during those days.

This move of God changed people, not only in Los Angeles, but throughout the US and the world. People went from these meetings filled with the zeal of God, being filled with the “Holy Ghost and fire” and they left that place eager to win souls.

Do you want a profound experience with God? You can have it, if you “tarry” for it. If you read Acts chapter 2, you will discover that the apostles and followers of Jesus, about 120, went to an upper room in Jerusalem and waited there for the gift of the Holy Ghost, as Jesus instructed them. The scriptures tell us they “tarried” there, until they were filled.

The Azusa Street revival was no different. People tarried in prayer every day, day in and day out, for months, until the Holy Ghost fell and revival hit Los Angeles, which then spread throughout the world.

You can have this experience too, if you are willing to say “goodbye” to the world and unGodliness, and commit yourself entirely to God. The Word of God tells us,

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service” Romans 12:1.

Most ministers today aren’t preaching this Word, the true Word of God today; they are preaching their own gospel, as Paul warned Timothy in God’s Word,

“Preach the Word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine, for the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears, and they shall turn away their ears from the truth and shall be turned unto fables” 2 Timothy 4:2-4.

Jesus said to His apostles before He ascended to heaven,

“And, behold, I send the promise of My Father upon you, but tarry in the City of Jerusalem, until you are endowed with power from on high” Luke 24:49.

That message is the same for us today. How do we know the message is the same for us? If you read about the ministry of the apostles in the Book of Acts, you will know that the Holy Ghost is a gift freely given to all who believe and would like to receive it.

Paul said to certain believers in Ephesus,

“Have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were you baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people that they should believe on Him who should come after him, that is on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them and they spoke with tongues and prophesied” Acts 19:2-6.

Many people all over the world have received the gift of the Holy Ghost. It is the gift of God to all who believe, surrender their lives fully to Him, and ask for it.

Many people have also faked it; but if you receive the Holy Ghost, you will know beyond any doubt it is real, because it takes control of you and it is truly an overwhelming, undeniable experience.

When the 120 believers received the Holy Ghost in Jerusalem, they were accused by onlookers of “being drunk,” but Peter explained,

“There are not drunken, as you suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel: and it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy and your young men shall see visions and your old men shall dream dreams; and on My servants and on My handmaidens, I will pour out in those days of My Spirit and they shall prophesy” Acts 2:15-18.

Read the Word of God daily, believe, and receive all that God has for you!

The Word of God tells us,

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled” Matthew 5:6.
